Star Ruby is a rare variety of the gemstone Ruby and it a sharp six-rayed star which seems to glide and shimmer magically across the surface of the gem when the latter is moved. This is caused due to an optical phenomenon known as "Asterism." It displays it star only when seen under a single light as the sunlight or the spotlight.
